Medeski, Martin, and Wood Halloween

Medeski, Matin, and Wood played their annual Halloween show at the Hammerstien Ballroom on Monday night. I often have very high expectation for Holliday shows and often it is hard for bands to live up to my expectations. But in the past MMW have delivered the good on Halloween. Although this Halloween was a lot of fun it was not MMW best performance. First I was a little dissapointed that only John and Chris were dressed up. And most of the crowd was not dress up as well which was a little dissapointing. They played a very good set but they seemed a little distracted by the stage show that they put together. The show open in complete darkness and then suddenly out of no were members of XY and Z who work with De La Guarda began swinging from the ceiling. They would contiue to dance and swing through the entire show. The band was also joined by Kenny Wollesen and his marching band during the encore for a parade that lead out into the audience. Overall I had a fun time but of the close to 50 MMW show I have seen this was no where near my favorite.
